Recent adventures

Over Memorial Day weekend, I worked at Brinnon ShrimpFest and since Reed is still nursing, he got to come too. Here he is telling people about Hood Canal and water quality.
Gerry came to help me "baby wrangle" and was a HUGE help! The brown fuzzy thing on Gerry's chest is Reed's hooded head, napping peacefully on Daddy's chest.

There were lots of arms to hold Reed during the day! Here he is with Emily.
The days were a little long, but fortunately we got a great tip to go check out a beautiful waterfall that was close by. It made me antsy to get out and go hiking!!

We took advantage of Gerry's Friday off and went to the Pike Place Market yesterday. It was a great change of pace for all three of us. Reed's been doing more than his usual amount of screaming lately (we think it might be about teeth) but the change of scenery was a great distraction. And the additional bonus is that he slept really well last night. Oh how I love sleep!

Just plain silly

When babies and glass doors meet...

Some family pics

I wanted to post a picture of my mom with Reed since she takes care of him two days a week while I work. Plus just check out the smile on that happy bather!
We went to Lake Chelan and stopped in Wenatchee to visit Gerry's grandma. I think this is a great one (granted, I think all of the pictures are great ones!)
And this one was taken while we were at Lake Chelan. We have an evening ritual to get Reed ready for bed and "naked baby time" (complete with the Naked Baby Time song) is part of it. We were afraid Reed might get a bit cold if he was completely naked, so we let him keep his hat on.
Reed's favorite napping place, and I'm happy to oblige!

Milestones

Reed is sitting up pretty darn well these days. We still have the occasional crash, but he's completely unphased by the sudden surges of gravity he experiences.
He also recently managed to get onto his hands and knees (hard to tell in this picture I know, but you'll just have to trust me). His little legs slip right out from under him for right now, but I know we're not too far away from crawling!
And just a few days ago, I was taking pictures of Reed in his crib (thinking baby in jail pictures might be cute). When...
He decided he'd like to bite on the top bar of his crib. But that was tough to do while sitting down so...
He pulled himself up to standing! The good news for Gerry and I is that he can only perform this feat from a sitting position and he can't yet get from lying down to sitting, but we need to move his mattress to a lower position ASAP!

First solid food

Here it is, Reed's first ever bite of solid food. I was just a teeny bit sad to know that I can no longer say that my body has nourished every ounce of his, but he was definitely ready for the addition to his diet!

And here we are after the whole trying solid food affair. As you can see, very little actually made it past the front of his mouth, but he looks very proud of himself! We'll get this solid food thing figured out, just not on the first day.

Happy Earth Day!!!

Okay, just when you thought things couldn't get any cuter!!

Happy Earth Day from our baby bear.

EcoFest

Saturday we went to EcoFest at Stillwaters in Kingston.

Here Reed is helping his daddy hug a tree. Yup, we're definitely proud to be a tree-hugging family!!

We forgot Reed's hat at home, so he was trying daddy's on for size. Not a great fit, but it made for some great pictures!

I can remember wearing my dad's hat when I was little, and having my dad tell me how cute I looked. I didn't really understand at the time, but I definitely understand now!!

We finally decided that a receiving blanket wrapped around Reed's head was the best way to go (as you can see here). It was a nice day, but a bit cold still for little bald babies. Reed looks a bit contemplative about the cherry blossoms. Perhaps he is composing a haiku:
Cherry blossom spring
I wear a silly blanket
At least I'm outside

Breathe into the bag and put your head between your knees

A hyperventilating baby? Nope, this brown paper bag is just proof that anything can be a toy to a baby!

Favorite pajamas

I don't know if they're Reed's favorite, but they're mine. C'mon, they've got geckos, SALAMANDERS, and chameleons on them! (Although the herpetologist in me is highly offended that the chameleons are labeled iguanas!). I'm not one to go crazy over clothing, but these are right up my alley!

Like father, like son!

Okay, those of you who know Gerry, know that he LOVES his bucket hat; he's never without it in the summer weather. So, when we found a baby-sized bucket hat, of course, we had to get it. We put it on him for the first time Friday to offer him a bit of sun protection while we went for a walk on the beach at the Point No Point Lighthouse. We're going to have to find another one of these hats as he will soon outgrow this one (6-12 months my hiney!!) Sadly, we forgot the camera for the walk. DOH!!!

But at least I got this great picture of my napping boys after a good day of sunshine and fresh air yesterday!

A rolling baby gathers no moss?

Reed is now rolling over all the time. He rolled over from his front to his back, way back in February but promptly forgot how. He still hasn't remembered how to do that, but is absolutely thrilled with himself every time he rolls from his back to his front, as shown here!

Taken just tonight!

You wouldn't know it to look at these pictures, but we had a rather long, sad (tired) night tonight. These are a good reminder that even on tough evenings, this is still the most rewarding job around!!!

About time I posted more pictures!

Smiley baby!

Reed and Daddy hanging out in the hammock.

Reed and Mommy outside.

Discovering dogs. It's hard to say who was more curious!

Nothing to say about this one... It's just cute!

Asleep while reading

Who hasn't fallen asleep while reading? Today, Reed was perusing the literary masterpiece "Peek-a-boo Baby Book" when he pulled it up over his face and fell asleep.

And some more recent pics

I know it looks like Reed is yawning, but he's acutally singing the WSU Fight Song!!

Looking a little worried as the swing rocks him to sleep.

Again, Reed looks a little worried, but he just woke up.

It's hippie camoflauge!

I know this one's a little blurry, but I couldn't resist posting it. It's too cute!

Oldies but goodies

I don't know why I didn't post these before, but these great pictures are from back in late December or early January.

Happy Valentine's Day

Up until today, I hadn't realized that the key to my heart was made of brightly colored plastic and covered in drool! Lots of love to everybody! -Cammy
