The Fair

We made two trips to the Puyallup Fair this year! Unfortunately Gerry had to miss it, but we had lots of fun with Grandma and Grandpa. Here are a few pictures from our most recent trip.

Spring in the petting area.

Reed got to play with a tractor. This may have been his favorite ride!

Spring didn't want to miss out on the tractor fun either.

Reed went on a number of rides and Grandma took lots of pictures, but this may have been the best of them.

There was a huge contraption with lots of old metal objects (pans, teapots, computer cases, etc) hanging off of it and lots of sticks for kids to drum on anything they pleased. Reed and Spring both took a turn.

Dog?

Reed, Spring and I went to the Puyallup Fair today. We had lots of fun and Reed said his favorite part was going on the rides. This time he went on the rides all by himself. His favorite was the canoe ride which was my favorite when I was a kid and Grandpa D's favorite when he was a kid!

After the fair, we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a nap. When Spring saw Mocha, she pointed at her and said "gah". Now I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that she may have been trying to say dog! She repeated it several times, and later in the evening, back at home with Gerry, I said to Spring "I wish Daddy could have heard you say dog" to which she promptly replied, "gah"! Each time she said it, it was different from her usual babble and it seemed like she was trying to work her mouth in order to make the right sounds. It also seems that she's signing for "all done" these days. Either that, or she's just shaking her hands in frustration because she doesn't want to be in her high chair! I'm not sure I remember what Reed's first word (besided Dada and Mama) was, but I very clearly remember his first sign was for milk. Reed communicates so clearly now and it's exciting to think about how soon Spring may be doing the same!

Watch out world!

It happened yesterday, in the front yard, with a little encouragement from mommy... Spring took her first few lunging steps! No more since then, but it probably won't be too much longer before she's walking all over the place!! I'm still not sure if she'll be walking before she turns a year though... any guesses?
